The sun is not the enemy and we do not want to hide from the sun. I caution against the use of a moisturizer with a built in sunblock. First of all,
the active sunblock ingredients are most likely chemical based sunblocks. These get absorbed into the skin and into the blood stream. One of these
main ingredients is usually, Oxybenzene. This is a known endocrine disruptor. It is a synthetic estrogen that gets absorbed into the
bloodstream and disrupts the normal function of the endocrine system.
Besides that major issue, the problem I have with moisturizer/sunblock combo is that you put it on in the morning and think that you are covered
through out the day. However, this is not actually the case. Your bodies natural oils and sweat and florescent lighting break down the active
ingredients and you are not protected when you most need it. You make choices based the notion that you are protected and that is a false
assumption. So you spend more time in the sun, unprotected.
Then to top it off, you exposed yourself to the chemicals in them for no reason. A better option is to opt for a zinc oxide based sunblock when you need it.
Rely on shade, hats, protective clothing and be smart about being in the sun. I do not recommend using Zinc based products that have been altered through nanotechnology. This process blasts the zinc particles to make them much smaller and allow them to be rubbed into the skin and not be
visible. There are many potential issues with nanoparticles in the body.
