Are you tired of your dry and damaged hair? Have you purchased and experimented with every hair care product imaginable?

If you’re ready to put this behind you once and for all, it’s time to get creative. It’s time to experiment with these home remedies:

1. Avocado

This super food can do more than improve your overall level of physical health. By combining it with one egg and applying to your wet hair, it can also restore moisture and shine.

2. Butter

You’re seeing that right: apply a small amount of butter to your dry hair. From there, leave it in place for approximately one hour. Once you rinse your hair and dry it once again, you’ll find that it has more moisture than ever before.

3. Olive Oil

This is one of the easiest remedies, as all you need is a half cup of warm olive oil and a little bit of time. Once you rub the oil into your hair, cover with a shower cup for 30 to 60 minutes. After that, you can shampoo and rinse.

So, there you have it. If dry and/or damaged hair is getting you down, one of these super easy home remedies may be just what you’ve been searching for.

Have you experimented with any of these ideas in the past? How did your hair respond?

If you’ve ever experienced a muscle cramp, you know just how painful and uncomfortable it can be.

With this in mind, you should do your best to prevent this situation in the future. Here are two of the top ways to prevent muscle cramps:

·      Stay hydrated. This is job number one, as a lack of hydration can quickly take a toll on your muscles. Make sure you drink enough water before and during physical activity, such as working out or running.

·      Stretch your muscles. Do you make it a habit to stretch before using your muscles extensively? If not, this is a habit that can have a positive impact on the health of your muscles.

Despite your best efforts, you may face a muscle cramp at some point. In this case, do the following:

·      Stretch the muscle and gently massage the area. Yes, it may take some time for the stretching and massage to kick in, but soon enough you’ll begin to feel better.

·      Apply cold or heat. For example, a warm towel can do wonders for a tight muscle. Also, don’t overlook the use of ice as a means of relieving pain.

A muscle cramp is not the worst pain you can experience, but it definitely has a way of causing extreme discomfort. If you’re susceptible to cramping, these prevention and treatment tips will go a long way in allowing you to avoid trouble in the future.

Do you have any other tips for preventing and/or treating muscle cramps?

Many people think they have to spend hours on end at the gym in order to improve their overall level of health and well being.

While there’s nothing wrong with a good gym workout, it’s not the only type of physical fitness to consider.

Did you know that there are many benefits of a regular walking routine? Consider the following:

·      Walking can help you maintain a healthy weight.

·      It can prevent a variety of serious diseases, including but not limited to type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

·      Walking can have a positive impact on your mental well being.

Along with all of the above, there’s one last thing to consider: it’s easy to get into a walking routine.

You don’t need any special equipment to get started. Furthermore, it doesn’t matter where you live. As long as you’re dedicated, as long as you have a few minutes of time, you can get started.

If you’ve never experienced the benefits of implementing a regular walking routine into your life, now’s the time to do so. You may be surprised at the benefits it can have on your physical and mental well being!

There is nothing worse than an earache that just won’t go away. After a couple hours of this pain and discomfort you may find yourself searching for any type of solution.

Fortunately, you don’t have to run to the doctor to ease the pain. Instead, there are a variety of home remedies for this ailment.

Here are several ideas to consider:

·      Hot water bottle. This is as simple as wrapping a hot water bottle in a towel and holding it against your ear. After a few minutes the pain will disappear (even if only temporarily).

·      Olive oil. Not only can it help eliminate the infection in your ear, but it can also stop any buzzing that may be driving you crazy. All it takes is three drops of olive oil in the ear that’s giving you trouble.

·      Garlic. The antibiotic properties of this commonly used food can help reduce the ache associated with an ear infection. Add one teaspoon of minced garlic to one to two tablespoons of sesame oil. From there, heat the liquid and wait for it to cool. Finally, filter the oil and place a couple drops in your ear(s).

These may not be the only ways to treat an earache at home, but they have been proven effective over the years. If you can’t stand the pain and discomfort any longer, try one of these methods. You may be surprised at how quickly you get relief.

Are you seeking a natural and nutritious way to energize your body?

Rather than rely on unhealthy foods and beverages, it’s time to turn your attention to fruit. Not only does it give you the energy you need, but it benefits your health in a number of ways.

Here are five fruits to consider adding to your diet:

·      Bananas. Thanks to the high potassium concentration, bananas are a great addition to any diet – especially if you’re seeking an energy boost.

·      Apples. A high fiber content goes a long way in providing a sustained energy source, which is more than can be said for alternatives that require constant consumption.

·      Oranges. From potassium to vitamin C, there’s a lot to like about oranges. Just the same as apples, this fruit provides sustained energy.

·      Pineapple. The high level of sugar means that pineapple isn’t the right choice for everyone. Even so, with a variety of health benefits, such as vitamin C and manganese, it’s a fruit to consider.

·      Strawberries. One of the tastiest fruits in the world, strawberries also provide natural energy. Eat it alone or eat it with other food, just make sure it’s part of your diet.

The next time you’re looking for an energy boost or quick pick-me-up, turn your attention to one of these fruits. You’ll be glad that you did!

The flu may not be the worst sickness you can get, but it has a way of holding you down for a couple of days (or longer in some cases). For this reason, it’s good to know which steps to take if you think you have the flu.

First things first, become familiar with the most common symptoms:

·      Fever

·      Sore throat

·      Cough

·      Body aches

·      Headache

·      Nausea

·      Vomiting

·      Fatigue

The next step to take is getting yourself away from other people. This isn’t always easy to do, but you don’t want to spread your germs. If possible, quarantine yourself for a couple days in order to keep others healthy. This is a particularly good idea if you’ll be around young children or adults over the age of 65.

From there, it’s time to begin the treatment process. There is no magic pill to cure the flu, so the best thing you can do is stay hydrated and get as much rest as possible. Along with this, there are a variety of natural home remedies that can help suppress your symptoms.

As unfortunate as it may be, the best remedy for the flu is time. With each passing hour, you’ll begin to feel better. Then, after a couple of days have gone by, you’ll hopefully find yourself back to normal.

There’s always the chance that you could get the flu, especially during the winter season. If this happens, follow these basic tips.

There are far worse injuries than a pulled muscle, but if you’ve ever suffered this setback you know just how painful and uncomfortable it can be.

While there is no guaranteed way to prevent this injury, there are steps you can take to reduce the risk.

Here are several precautions that can minimize the likelihood of this injury:

·      Always warm up. Before taking on any type of physical activity – from working out to shoveling snow – make sure you warm up. Warm muscles are less likely to be injured.

·      Start slow. There’s no point in getting ahead of yourself. For example, you can perform several lighter sets of an exercise to ensure that you’re warmed up and ready to go.

·      Don’t push yourself too hard. There’s no denying the fact that you want to reach your goals and feel good about the progress you’re making. Even so, you don’t want to push yourself beyond your limits. Doing so is one of the quickest ways to pull a muscle.

Even if you follow these tips, you could still find yourself dealing with a pulled muscle. Fortunately, this advice will improve your chance of remaining safe and healthy throughout your physical activity.

The winter weather can bring forth a variety of challenges in regards to your skin. With lower humidity and strong winds, it’s common for surface dehydration to set in.

If this happens, the skin will begin to produce more oil. On top of this, when skin becomes overly dry, it creates an environment in which bacteria can live.

Unfortunately, all of this can cause winter acne.

Here are some things you should and shouldn’t do in regards to preventing and treating winter acne:

·      Use non-drying treatments. The most harsh products, such as those containing benzoyl peroxide, can make your issue worse.

·      Use a moisturizer. Even if you have oily skin, this is something you should consider using – especially during the winter months.

·      Put abrasive products out of sight. For example, scrubs and alcohol based toners will worsen your condition during the winter.

Many people believe that they have to simply deal with winter acne. Others are under the impression that only a doctor can help. Neither of these points are true.

When you follow the above advice, you can put winter acne in the past and enjoy clear skin until the weather breaks (and beyond)!

There’s no denying the fact that severe winter weather will move into the area at some point in the near future. With this, you must change your daily approach to ensure that you avoid an accident.

This holds true both when driving, as well as when you’re walking on snow and ice. Here are some tips that all pedestrians should follow when encountered with these conditions:

·      Leave extra time. Many accidents happen when you don’t leave yourself enough time to reach your destination, thus putting you in a rush. For example, you arrive at work late, meaning you have to run through a snowy parking lot in order to reach your office in time.

·      Choose the right shoes. In short, you only want to wear shoes that are both comfortable and provide good traction.

·      Slow down. Just the same as your vehicle, you need to slow down when walking on snow or ice. Doing so will go a long way in helping you avoid a slip and fall.

·      Stick to walkways that are clear. Why trudge through snow and ice when you don’t have to? Instead, stick with the areas that have been cleared.

When you follow these tips, you will find it easier to stay safe when walking on snow and ice.

If you do find yourself involved in an accident, make immediate note of your injuries. From there, don’t hesitate to receive treatment. For example, if you strained a muscle, you should rest the injured area while also icing it on a regular basis.

Now that Christmas is over and the new year is on its way, it’s time to think about the future.

Although it can be disappointing when the holiday season comes to an end, there’s always next year.

For now, it’s time to get your life back in order. This means something different to everyone. Like many, you may have stressed out during the holidays to the point of exhaustion. If this was the case, here are three things you can do to put holiday stress in the past (without waiting another day):

1. Get Some Sleep

Did you run yourself ragged during the holidays? If so, you need to take a day or so to catch up on your rest. Sure, this may mean putting some important tasks on the back burner, but it’s essential that you are well rested as the calendar turns.

2. Look Forward to the Future

One of the best ways to put the holidays in the past is to look toward the future. This can go a long way in eliminating stress, as you realize that there is plenty of fun and good times on the horizon.

3. Get a Massage

Are you seeking a way to treat your mind, body, and soul? If so, it’s time to schedule a professional massage. After a few minutes on the massage table, the stress of the holidays will melt away. Soon enough, you’ll realize that the past is in the past and the future is bright.

What other types of things can you do to put holiday stress in the past?

With no warm weather in sight, it goes without saying that cold and flu season has arrived.

Like many people, there may come a time (or two) over the next few months when you have the sniffles. While this isn’t the most serious ailment, it can definitely hold you down for a few days.

Fortunately, there are several home remedies that can help you find relief without delay. Consider these ideas:

1. Salt Water

Irritation and a runny nose go together hand in hand. If you want to put an end to this, a salt water spray is a great place to start.

All you have to do is mix a half teaspoon of salt with a cup or two of warm distilled water. From there, use a dropper or sprayer to insert into each nostril.

After doing this a few times, the mucus will thin and your sniffles will begin to disappear.

2. Steam

Does it get any easier than this? By breathing in steam, you can effectively clear excess mucus that is causing you to sniffle all day long.

One of the easiest ways to get started is to drape a towel over your head and hold your face over a hot bowl of water (or the sink).

Breathe in the steam for five minutes and wait for relief to arrive!

3. Mustard Oil

An overlooked yet effective home remedy for the sniffles, this entails heating mustard oil until it warms. From there, insert two drops into each nostril.

After doing this a couple times per day, relief will arrive. Not only can mustard oil provide relief from the sniffles, but it also has antibiotic properties.

What do you think about these home remedies for the sniffles? Have you used any of these in the past?

Despite the fact that the holiday season can be one of the most joyous times of the year, don’t be surprised if stress creeps into your life every now and again.

Rather than let stress get you down, here are five tips for managing it in an effective manner:

·      Have fun. Don’t let the holidays be all about setting up for visitors and making others happy. At some point, you need to do what’s best for you. And what’s best during this time of the year is a little bit of fun.

·      Focus on what’s most important. When you do this, everything else will fall into place. It doesn’t mean you’ll experience no stress, but it will definitely help you put things into perspective.

·      Get organized. The holidays have a way of bringing clutter into your life. If this stresses you out, do your best to remain organized despite what’s going on around you.

·      Let others help. You don’t have to micromanage every last task. When you let others help, this has a way of taking some of the stress off your back.

·      Get a massage. Remember the part about doing something for yourself? Well, this is one of the best ideas. A massage will quickly melt your stress, putting you in a better place as the holiday season moves forward.

Don’t let stress kill the holidays. Instead, follow these tips and you’ll feel much better about the weeks to come.

With the winter cold closing in, you know that chapped (or extremely dry) lips could become a problem for you at some point.

If you find yourself in this position, it’s important to learn more about the many remedies that are available to you. While there’s no denying that you could visit your doctor or buy an over the counter product, you should first consider one of the following home remedies:

·      Green tea bag

·      Lemon juice

·      Milk cream

·      Aloe vera

·      Cucumber

While you may be familiar with some of these remedies, such as aloe vera, others are not nearly as common.

For example, the use of cucumber is an idea to consider. All you have to do is slice the cucumber and rub it over the dry areas. Do your best to apply as much of the juice as possible, as this is what fights the dryness.

After leaving it on for approximately 15 minutes, rinse with water. After using this method for several days, you’ll begin to experience improvement.

Chapped lips can be one of the most painful and unsightly conditions that come up during the winter months. If you find yourself faced with this health concern, experiment with a home remedy before you spend time and money at the doctor.

In today’s day and age, buying organic food is all the rage. Unfortunately, even though most people realize this is a good idea, some continually turn the other way.

Before we discuss the top foods to buy organic, let’s examine what this actually means.

For food to be labeled organic, it must meet strict USDA specifications. Here is an excerpt from a USDA blog post that explains everything:

“USDA certified organic foods are grown and processed according to federal guidelines addressing, among many factors, soil quality, animal raising practices, pest and weed control, and use of additives. Organic producers rely on natural substances and physical, mechanical, or biologically based farming methods to the fullest extent possible.”

Now that we have that out of the way, it’s time to better understand which foods you should buy organic.

Consider this: fruits and vegetables should always be purchased organic, as you typically eat every part of the food. In other words, whatever touches the fruit or vegetable is going into your body.

With all that in mind, here are 10 foods to buy organic in the future (if you aren’t already doing so):

·      Apples

·      Peaches

·      Strawberries

·      Cherries

·      Nectarines

·      Grapes

·      Cucumbers

·      Tomatoes

·      Spinach

·      Bell peppers

The next time you find yourself in the market for one or more of these foods, do yourself a favor and buy organic. This will give you peace of mind!

For many people, especially those who exercise on a regular basis, muscle soreness is a part of their life.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be. There are several things you can do to cure muscle soreness, thus allowing you to feel better before and after you workout. Consider these tips:

·      Stretch before and after you exercise. Many people look at this as a waste of time, but it’s beneficial for many reasons. Not only does it help prevent muscle soreness, but it goes a long way in doing the same with muscle injuries.

·      Take a warm shower. It may only be a temporary cure, but it can definitely do wonders for muscle soreness.

·      Rest, rest, and rest some more. Your body needs rest in order to recover. So, if muscle soreness has you down, don’t hesitate to take a day off.

Along with the above, there’s one other thing worth noting: getting a massage can generate positive results in no time at all.

There is no way to totally prevent muscle soreness, however, there are many things you can do to treat this problem should it come to light.

By relying on one or more of the tips above, muscle soreness won’t be nearly as big an issue in the future. How does that sound to you?

As the cold winter weather closes in on the area, it’s easy to go into “hibernation mode.” This means something different to everyone, with many people skipping their regular workouts and beginning to eat poorly.

If you want to avoid this situation in the months to come, it’s time to take a close look at your diet. Although you may be tempted to live on hot chocolate for the foreseeable future, it’s time to realize that there are healthier alternatives.

The following foods are perfect for cold weather eating, while also providing a variety of health benefits:

1. Oatmeal

There’s nothing like a warm bowl of oatmeal to wake you up on a cold winter day. With a variety of essential nutrients, including but not limited to fiber and zinc, oatmeal is a wintertime meal you don’t want to overlook.

2. Soup

Does it get any better than this? As long as you eat the right types of soup, those that are healthy for you, the end result can be astonishing. When searching for the right soups, focus on those that use water, vegetable broth, or chicken broth as the base. Conversely, avoid those that are high in salt and require too much beef.

3. Cauliflower and Broccoli

These vegetables may not sound enticing when the weather cools down, but remember this: they will defend your body against common winter sickness. Thanks to the high levels of Vitamin C, you should do your best to eat one or both of these on a regular basis.

What do you think about these three cold weather foods? Will you add one or more to your diet in the months to come?

It doesn’t matter where you live or what time of the year it is, nothing changes the fact that you need to keep your skin as healthy as possible at all times.

If you’re seeking quick and easy ways to hydrate your skin, you’ve come to the right place. By making a few basic changes to your daily routine, you can ensure that your skin is hydrated and feeling healthy at all times.

1. Drink More Water

It goes without saying that this is the best way to hydrate your skin (as well as the rest of your body). If you’re not drinking enough water, now’s the time for a change.

2. Use a Humidifier

This is particularly importantly during the winter months, as all the moisture can be sucked out of the air.

Using a humidifier in your home will prevent your skin from quickly becoming dried out.

3. Use Gentle Soap

Many people overlook the fact that the soap they use can have a negative impact on the health of their skin.

Gentle, natural soap will go a long way in keeping your skin healthy and hydrated.

4. Take a Colder Shower

Did you know that hot water can take away some of your skin’s natural oils? This may not sound like a big deal when you’re soaking, but it could soon come back to haunt you.

5. Change Your Diet

What you eat can have a big impact on the hydration of your skin. There are many foods you can add to your diet in order to boost hydration.

For example, avocado has a way of hydrating your skin without any negative side effects.

If you’re skin is drying out, if you need to make a change, consider implementing one or more of the tips above.

As cooler weather enters the area, you have every reason to worry about how this will impact your health.

Chapped lips aren’t the end of the world, but it’s a health concern that can be uncomfortable and visually unappealing.

Fortunately, there are several steps you can take this winter to prevent chapped lips:

1. Drink more water. Simply put, if you become dehydrated there’s a greater chance of your lips drying out.

With dry air during the winter season, it’s imperative to stay hydrated at all times.

2. Use a humidifier. If you don’t add moisture to the air in your home, you could soon find that your lips, as well as other parts of your body, are becoming dried out.

With a humidity level between 30 and 50 percent, you have a much better chance of preventing chapped lips.

3. Add protection when outdoors. Will you be exposing your lips to cold air? How about wind? Or maybe even some sun? If so, you should apply lip balm while also covering your lips with a scarf.

Tip: don’t forget to re-apply from time to time, as your lip balm will eventually wear off.

For many, chapped lips is a serious problem. If you’ve struggled with this in the past, now’s the time to make a change. Using the tips above, you can prevent this issue in the months to come.

With cooler weather entering the area, it’s only a matter of time until you have your first cold of the season.

While you hope to avoid this, you know that it’s easier said than done.

If you find yourself congested and looking for answers, don’t automatically assume that traditional medicine is the best solution. Instead, consider other options. For instance, there are a number of home remedies for congestion, all of which have been proven to work.

1. Stay Hydrated

There are many benefits of drinking more fluids, including the fact that it breaks up the congestion and keeps your throat moist.

It’s never easy when you have a cold, but do your best to drink eight or more glasses of water every day.

2. Get Steamy!

Did you know you can break up the congestion in your throat and chest by inhaling steam?

All you have to do is put your head over a pot of boiling water, drape a towel over your head, and breathe slowly. Soon enough, relief will arrive!

3. Use a Saline Spray

This may not sound appealing, but it can go a long way in breaking up congestion in your nose. If you’re interested in this, you don’t have to purchase a product from the store or visit your doctor.

Instead, try the following:

·      Mix two to three teaspoons of salt with one to two teaspoons of baking soda.

·      Keep secure in an airtight container.

·      Add one teaspoon of your mixture to eight ounces of boiled water.

Now, all you have to do is add the solution to a bulb syringe and insert into your nose. Be sure to squirt a small amount of mixture into both nostrils to ensure the best results.

If you become congested this fall, these home remedies are a great place to turn for relief!
