How to Combat Itchy Eyes this Summer

During the summer months, allergens have the potential to take a toll on the way you live your life. For example, if itchy eyes have become a way of life, it’s time to take action. And that doesn’t necessarily mean loading up on allergy medication that’ll make you feel like a zombie.

There are many ways to combat itchy eyes, with these strategies among the most effective:

•    Cold compress: The moment you feel the itch coming on, grab a cool cloth, close your eyes, and apply it to your closed eyes for roughly five minutes.

•    Eye drops: Itchy eyes are often accompanied by dryness. So, if you get rid of the dryness, you may be able to relieve some of the itchiness, too. Over the counter eye drops can be purchased at a local drug store or online.

•    Stay indoors: When allergens are high, stay indoors as much as possible. Also, close your windows as to keep the allergens on the outside looking in.

Along with the above, keep your fingers out of your eyes. Yes, rubbing and scratching will provide temporary relief, but once you stop you’ll actually feel worse.

Now that you know how to combat itchy eyes this summer, you will find it easier to enjoy yourself.
