Even if you try your best to avoid it, there will be times when you want nothing more than a snack before bed. And in some cases, you may even wake up in the middle of the night looking to fill your stomach.
Your first thought is to head for the junk food cabinet. While chips and cookies sound appealing, it’s not what you want to fill your stomach with at this hour (or any time for that matter).
Instead, here are some of the best foods to eat before you retire for the evening:
• Tart cherries
• Kiwi
• Banana
• Protein smoothie
• Cheese and crackers
• Yogurt
• Hot cereal
• Strawberries
• Eggs
No matter what you do, don’t indulge in junk food this late in the day. Not only can it pack on the pounds, but it can also keep you from getting a good night’s sleep.
So, the next time you get hungry late at night, experiment with one or more of the foods above. You’re sure to find something that suits your taste buds!
